Watercress is a green leafy vegetable that is very rich in vitamins A, C, K and beta carotene and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, and potassium. It contains high levels of iodine which is beneficial for both the thyroid and immune system. Watercress also has antibiotic properties similar to those in the onion family which also gives it a spicy flavor and kick. Fresh watercress can also be crushed and applied to the skin to help relieve eczema, psoriasis, acne, and other skin irritations and infections. Watercress is typically found in most supermarkets and health food stores near the lettuce in the produce section.
